Alitheia 3

When I woke up, I was a bit startled before I recollected I was back in my dormitory. Sophia kept me out late yesterday. She had given me a tour of the campus. My phone showed it was exactly 6am. I sat up in bed and mentally planned my day. Raven was fast asleep on the bed across me. She looked so innocent with a book cradled between her hands. I stifled a yawn as I walked to my wardrobe, I changed into my towel and went into the bathroom.

My parents had spent extra money to get me a place where the toilet and bathroom facilities were inside the room. The bathroom was separate from the toilet. It was a medium space divided into three sections. The bathroom was on one end of the section, covered by a transparent glass just enough to tell when someone was inside. They left a part of the glass open for entrance. The toilet was on the other end with the glass covering as well. There was a sink in the middle section. It had a mirror just above it. A small two-door-opener cupboard was attached to the wall about the mirror.

When I got out of the bathroom, Raven was not on her bed. I failed to notice if she was in the toilet on my way out of the bathroom. I paired a plain white tee shirt with monotone checkered pants, along with white sneakers. My notes were sitting in my totebag already, I hung my bags on the bag hanger the previous day. I had two introductory classes for the day and the first one was scheduled for 8am. I planned to hang out with Sophia afterwards. When I was ready to step out, Raven came in through the entrance of the restroom.

"Hey," she said, looking me up.

"Hi," I replied.

"Early lecture?" She walked to her box and took out a brush and toothpaste. It occured to me I had yet to brush.

"Yes." She turned from me to take off her clothes. I hurried to the sink in the restroom to brush. Raven joined me a moment later wrapped in a navy blue towel. She used the sink in the toilet. She brushed like she was at war with her teeth. I could hear the sound of the brush meeting her teeth. I chuckled.

"Will you be back early?" I turned to see her head poking through the toilet door.

"I am not sure."

"Alright, I will be late. Got a meeting at noon." I wondered why she was telling me this. I finished up with my brush routine quickly, the sound of her gargling made me feel like throwing up. I debated whether take cereals or wait for lunch at the cafeteria before heading out. It was easy finding my lecture room, thanks to Sophia's little tour the previous day.

There were few people present when I got to class. It was a large classroom with chairs and writing platforms fitted to the side. Each roll of chairs was placed on a platform slightly lower than the previous one. I walked to the third roll and used the fourth chair. Some students joined my roll and in time class was filled as more people arrived. The girl who sat to my right was very chatty during the lecture. Quietly, she would pass information I did not request for while lecture was on. I nodded to each, to show I heard her. After lecture she introduced herself as Olivia. She was looking forward to the club fair and was excited about college. We walked to the next lecture room together.

Something about my calm face made her think I was a good listener, because she went on and on. I tried to keep up with the details, nodding to her words and sometimes zoning out to admire the structures in the department. She did not seem offended by this and would call back my attention with a mild tap on my arm. At the end of the second lecture, she invited me to her dorm, but I declined with an excuse I had to meet up with someone. We exchanged numbers and parted ways at the park. It was still early to meet Sophia. I walked about the park, taking in the environment.

The green grass appeared well taken care of. There were pathways that led to different ends. At the center, a plaque of a man on a horse stood elegantly above a little pool of water. There were trees in different spots. Some students sat on the grass, some alone and others in groups. I looked around for a place to sit and noticed a wooden fitted chair with a tree shade. I walked over there and took out a book to read. I got bored after a while and started to watch passersby. That was when I saw him. He wore a graphic tee with jeans. He appeared to be looking for a place to sit when our eyes met. He started walking towards me and my heart beat rose. He started talking as soon as he sat down. I observed he was full of compliments.

"Hi, my name is Williams," he said with a million dollar smile. "What's yours?"

"Alitheia," I said with reluctance.

"That's a beautiful name. You are a freshman?" he asked, I nodded affirmatively. "I am glad you chose Macford, I won't have gotten to meet this beauty." I thought that was too forward, but cute all the same. It brought some colors to my cheek.
